Overview of role:

Technology enables everything we do at WestJet, join us on our journey to evolve and enhance its use across the organization. WestJet is seeking a Product Manager to join our IT team to help us continue the transformation of our technology landscape.

As a Product Manager, you will lead a cross-functional DevOps team that builds and supports Disruption Management solutions built on integration platforms and patterns. This leader will collaborate with their stakeholders to ensure effective and timely delivery of robust, scalable, and secure solutions. Partnering with our business to plan and roadmap future functionality, capabilities, and standards adoption.


Key deliverables / responsibilities include:

  • Partner with our business to deliver an exceptional guest experience in disruption management
  • Responsible for setting a product vision and strategy.
  • Ownership of the IT roadmap and prioritizes building what matters most to achieve the strategic goals and initiatives behind the product.
  • Facilitate planning, delivery, and timeline for implementation of technology solutions.
  • Identify new IT capabilities that will improve performance, stability, and scalability.
  • Work with and manage a team to build, maintain, and prioritize product backlog.
  • Leverage existing design patterns or modify them to maintain organization consistency.
  • Responsible for defining the requirements for each feature and the desired experience.
  • Defines and maintains service levels specific to requirements of the product.
  • Continuous improvement, disaster recovery, run books, security, and patch compliance.
  • Coordinating operational teams to support operational hours up to and including 24x7.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team resources to fulfill all elements of the product management lifecycle.
  • Management of third-party vendors specific to the delivery of their products. This includes contract negotiations and renewals, service level performance adherence and improvement plans and quality.
  • Accountable to ensure their products aligns with corporate compliance and regulatory governance standards. This includes a broad understanding of these standards and accountability to meet them on an ongoing basis. Standards include PCI, GDPR, SOX, etc.


Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT related experience.
  • Services, and Kafka streaming platforms.
  • Experience with agile software development.
  • Ability to communicate technical or complex subject matter in easy-to-understand language.
  • Ability to lead using positive and collaborative methods.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of integration strategies and patterns.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD using Azure (ADO)
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and cross functionally.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to create a vision, strategy, and roadmaps.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively, demonstrate flexibility and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Nice to have, good understanding of Messaging (IBM MQ/IIB/ACE/DataPower, Kafka, etc.), Azure (ESB, APIM, etc.), MFT and data security.
