Position Summary:

The Special Process Technician - Aircraft Chemical Processes and Paint Shop, is responsible for carrying out special process functions within the Manufacturing and Distribution Organization (MDO). These functions include but are not limited to, the preparation of manufactured aircraft parts to receive protective coatings, and the application of such protective coatings. Specialized protective coatings meeting rigid OEM standards including alodine, anodize, and specialized primers and paints. In addition, the role is required to ensure documentation is in line with the provisions of the Company MDO Policy, Procedures, Manuals and of Company general procedures and policies relating to the MDO. This role involves ensuring that all special processes are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and interpret work order instructions, aircraft drawings & diagrams to ensure proper assembly and compliance with technical specifications
  • The duties may include but are not limited to: the chemical treatment of materials, masking of materials and parts, hanging parts for paint, touch ups of fasters heads with paint and primer, equipment cleaning, and application of protective coatings
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed and maintain inventory of tools and equipment
  • Properly utilize production equipment to manufacture aircraft parts and maintain tools to perform installations and repairs
  • Safely operate equipment such as a gantry, air compressor, and any other equipment involved in the chemical processing of the sheet metal and machined parts
  • Maintain a clean work area and alert the leadership team of any safety concerns; take immediate action or report immediately any unsafe conditions
  • Continuously learn and apply new skills as required by the organization, including operating additional equipment or performing new tasks to support production needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring both accuracy and traceability of parts
  • Perform other work as assigned
  • The successful candidate would be willing to be trained and learn new skillsets as it pertains to this position, as outlined in the responsibilities above

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of manufacturing, aerospace, warehousing or construction experience is considered an asset
  • Prior knowledge and experience in chemical processes and/or paint shop would be considered an asset
  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Any technical or trades qualifications / certificates, or training would be considered an asset
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment, which requires deadlines to be met on a regular basis
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and power tools
  • Knowledge and experience in the aviation industry is considered an asset
  • Ability to complete a criminal background check
  • Must have and maintain the ability to legally work in Canada
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
