Overview of role:

The Senior Manager of Technical Services and Maintenance Programs will be responsible for leading and managing the technical support and reliability efforts for WestJet fleet. This role will ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the aircraft by managing in-service engineering issues, coordinating with various operational teams, providing technical support and driving reliability improvements for all aircraft systems.

Major Duties

• Responsible to implement strategies to continually improve:
• Aircraft dispatch reliability and D0
• Aircraft availability
• Operational safety and performance
• Evaluation of maintenance program effectiveness through reliability trends and maintenance data analysis
• Maintenance cost
• Responsible to ensure aircraft compliance with maintenance program and reliability program with regulatory requirements.
• Lead and ensure technical support team provide timely troubleshooting, defect analysis and resolution of chronic and repeat defects.
• Oversee the team coordination with stakeholder and other departments.
• Oversee and participate in the engineering review and approval process for any repairs and alterations required during the operational life of the aircraft.
• Ensure that all in-service engineering solutions are compliant with regulatory requirements and internal policies and manuals.
• Oversee the liaison with external vendors, suppliers, and external maintenance organizations to resolve in-service engineering issues or defects.
• Develop department procedures to ensure efficient daily operations and regulatory compliance.
  

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Knowledge and experience of industry regulations and standard practices, including the regulations that are mandated from both an Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) and the Aircraft Operating Certificate (AOC)
• Must be able to take limited information from multiple sources, analyze it and offer suggestions on the best course of action that is safe and has the most efficient outcome for the company, while working under extreme time constraints.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be a TCCA Licensed AME or have a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years experience in aircraft maintenance, engineering or technical services, with at least 6 years comparable experience in an airline, MRO, or OEM environment.
• Experience with Boeing 737NG, 737MAX, 787 or Dash 8-Q400 will be an asset

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to lead complex technical projects.
• Proficiency in engineering software and maintenance management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and vendor management.
• An individual of highest personal and professional integrity as demonstrated through strong personal values as well as consistent words and actions.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on developing talent within the team.
