Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Commodity Buyer to support our sourcing program and assist with various departmental tasks. This individual will play a key role in managing sourcing within one specific program and providing administrative support to the team. The successful candidate will be adept at processing large volumes of data quickly and efficiently, synthesizing information, and creating clear and impactful presentations for stakeholders. Depending on the candidate's development, there is an opportunity to take on a portfolio of suppliers to manage.
• Assist in managing the sourcing process within a designated program, ensuring timely and efficient communication and tasks execution. Depending on the candidate's development, manage a dedicated portfolio of direct and indirect machining suppliers located within North America.
• Provide administrative support to the sourcing team and management team, including execution of reports, managing documentation, tracking progress, and assisting with departmental tasks as needed.
• Develop clear, visually appealing presentations by synthesizing and organizing data into concise formats for stakeholders. Present findings and analysis in an understandable manner, answering questions and providing comprehensive explanations to stakeholders at various levels.
• Efficiently handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work standards.
As the candidate develops in the role, there will be the opportunity to take on and manage a portfolio of suppliers, ensuring effective and strategic relationships with key vendors:
• Be accountable for the cost reduction plan with the assigned supplier panel.
• Contribute to set-up, formalization and execution of the strategy for the Machined Parts Commodity.
• Create and manage RFQ process through the Supplier Selection and establishment of Safran Landing Systems contractual conditions with Suppliers.
• Manage contracts in place with assigned Suppliers and anticipate renewals of contract, through tendering and supplier selection.
• Actively monitor the performance of the supplier, and engage actions when needed in collaboration with the Supplier Performance Manager.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities, manage the cost reduction plan, and report figures in the designed financial tool.
• Interface with other functions on all sites (Procurement, Production, Program, Quality, Industrialization) and act as a Purchasing focal point for the allocated supplier panel.
• Resolve daily (tactical) issues related to suppliers.
• A relevant University Degree and/or APICS, CPIM or CIRM/PMAC Certification.
• Preferred experience working in a manufacturing environment, international experience or mechanical industrial engineering in aerospace preferred; 1-2 years of work experience.
• Experience in leading Projects within multi-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Contracts, contract language and the ability to negotiate various types of contracts with suppliers.
• Purchasing process leadership skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment and represent the Purchasing function towards the Supplier.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Good knowledge of SAP environment, preferred.
• Experience with accounting and financial principles.
• Production control process knowledge, MRP and Flow Management.
• Ability to travel on short or long term within Canada & USA, as per project needs.
• Desire to develop into a role with responsibility for managing supplier relationships and portfolios
