Working as a member of the Design and Analysis group (D&A)
Reporting to the Integrated Product Team - Engineering Group Leader
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Design of landing gear/components and associated systems using CATIA V5
Produce comprehensive layouts and tolerance analysis with a mindset of design for manufacture/cost
Basic engineering analysis to substantiate initial layouts.
Work on special projects (airworthiness, re-design) and design changes/improvements as required
Responsible for ensuring the design of the equipment meets the applicable specification requirements including CAR, FAR, JAR and CS
Ability to create high quality Model Based Definition and/or comprehensive detail drawings of large, complex structural components
Ability to execute high quality checking of other Designer's work
Execute trade studies to identify the optimum design solution
Create and update documents using Product Data Management (PDM) system
Participate in Concurrent Engineering with various company functions including Stress, Dynamics, Systems, Quality, Product Support, Manufacturing, etc.
Ensure that lessons learned are applied to new designs
Ensure that a common design approach is followed using harmonized company standards
Evaluation and disposition of Non-Conformances against parts and assemblies as required
Support in-service aircraft for production repair, in-service repair, investigations and associated Material Review Board activities as required
Support customer FAL (Final Assembly Line) activities as required
Support loads analysis and disposition of landing gears for aircraft involved in incidents
Ability to support AOG after hours as part of a team on a schedule if required
Occasionally work offsite for extended periods at customer/partner facilities inside or outside of Canada if required.
Mentoring/coaching of less experienced team members
Other company/Engineering related activities as required
University degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or related discipline
Experience in landing gear design and/or integration
Familiar with all aspects of design of landing gear; mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems and components
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to ASME Y.14.5M-1994
Proven ability to create complex tolerance stack-ups and comprehensive design layouts
Proven capability in the use of CATIA V5, solid modeling, kinematics, MBD and 2D layouts
Excellent English written and oral communication and presentation skills
Proficiency with MS Office required
Detail and results oriented with a well-developed problem solving ability
Ability to travel internationally if required
Bilingual (French/English) is an asset
