We are now seeking a Labour Relations and Scheduling Manager who will play a pivotal role in managing HR functions within our unionized environment. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of labour relations, employee engagement, and HR best practices. The Labour Relations Specialist will work closely with union representatives, management, and employees to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.

The Day to Day

  • Administer and manage HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with labour laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with Aviation security compliances and labour regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and company policies in all scheduling and labour relations practice.
  • Oversee and administer semi-annual and monthly shift bid processes, ensuring fairness and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Support the management team in addressing concerns of discipline, dismissal, interpretation and application of the collective agreement, labour, and employment law.
  • facilitating effective communication between management and union members.
  • Communicate with various Unions representatives with respect to grievances, company initiatives and other issues related to bargaining unit employees.
  • Manage and process employee leave of absence (LOA) requests in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Support management with employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations, in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Stay informed about relevant labour codes and regulations, including but not limited to the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, and collective agreements, and advise management on compliance requirements.
  • Support with branch full-cycle recruitment efforts including resume screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate office activities and processes to ensure smooth operations.

What you bring

  • Successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 years security experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or a combination of experience and relevant experience /education Prior experience working with unions and knowledge of the Labour Code.
  • College Diploma in HR, management or HR related field
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling, labour laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office word, Power Point and Excel
  • Experience working in an aviation environment is an asset.
