The Station Agent loads and offloads cargo and passenger bags, checks in and boards passengers, processes arrival and departure times, completes all regulator paperwork email and telephone communication with internal and external customers, and processes payments for cargo and tickets.

Reporting to: Manager, Northern Hamlets.

Level: As per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement.

Pay Rate: Starting at $21.00 per hour as per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement or commensurate with experience. In addition to the Northern Living Allowance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain records as required and disseminate information;
  • Record flight arrival and departing times;
  • Conduct radio communications with the aircraft;
  • Process weight and balance and load control data;
  • Process shipment and reception of all cargo;
  • Perform load service duties;
  • Handle all cargo;
  • Provide services to the aircraft on the ground as required;
  • Perform all warehouse related duties;
  • Perform commissary duties;
  • Assist with reconfiguration of aircraft as required;
  • Assist passengers with mobility and special needs;
  • Assist with claims for damaged or missing goods;
  • Process passengers and baggage;
  • Make reservations and compute fares;
  • Issue tickets/airway bills and process sales reports for deposit;
  • Assemble, control and transmit reservations and passenger data;
  • Administer Interline and employee travel both business and pleasure; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Must have completed grade 10 or have equivalent job experience in the related areas: warehouse, customer service, etc;
  • Handling of dangerous goods and be able to obtain and retain a dangerous goods handling certificate is an asset;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun is a definite asset;

Please note: This is a non-rotational position located in Cambridge Bay, NU. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Please note: This job entails irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift work. Shift schedules will be bid in order of seniority.

As a result, we cannot provide you with a schedule around your current job, school schedule, activities, etc. You are however able to shift trade with your colleagues- but you are responsible for the shifts that you are scheduled.

Employees will be given a minimum of (7) calendar days to select their shifts and the work schedule will be finalized (14) days prior to the effective date.
