De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is excited to announce the addition of a group of highly experienced aerospace professionals to our organization! Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2) and Avionics Design Services (ADS) joined De Havilland in October 2023, creating additional capacity and expanding our expertise in both avionics design services and upgrades as well as maintenance and modifications.

In October of 2023 De Havilland Aircraft of Canada announced the acquisition of Mid Canada Mod Centre (MC2). Mid Canada Mod Centre is comprised of industry leading experts focused on ensuring commercial, charter, special mission and business aircraft operators are equipped with flight decks that provide safety and efficiency. As a premier Canadian aviation maintenance shop, the team of experts works to define avionics requirements to develop and certify solutions that fit each operator's individual need.

Profile

The Director of Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) will provide strategic operational leadership and management for a multi-disciplined Approved Maintenance Organization (MC2). This role is responsible for ensuring the timely completion and delivery of aircrafts while maintaining quality and budgetary requirements. The successful candidate will develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with company objectives and drive the execution of Lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage production operations to meet quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans in alignment with business goals and Balanced Scorecard objectives.
  • Oversee production activities, ensuring efficiency in aircraft production and shipping.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure feedback at a business unit level.
  • Partner with Methods and Facilities teams to ensure the development and implementation of the capital plan to support production growth.
  • Develop and enforce production standards, operating goals, and cost controls.
  • Approve and manage operational budgets and workforce planning.
  • Implement and lead continuous improvement initiatives (i.e. SQPEC, Visible Leadership, ect.).
  • Implement customer service and satisfaction by ensuring on- time delivery of quality products.
  • Foster a culture of continuous performance improvements.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing production management team.
  • Promote the maintenance of harmonious industrial relations within the Production environment and maintain open communication across teams.
  • Facilitate collaboration with other departments and senior leadership.
  • Coach and Mentor the team while establishing performance expectations.
  • Ensure financial targets related to manufacturing costs and operational budgets are achieved.
  • Identify and mitigate risks pertaining to delivery, compliance, safety, and manufacturing costs.
  • Travel occasionally as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent.
  • 10 - 15 years of progressive management experience in an aerospace AMO or manufacturing environment, preferably involving new programs and flight test vehicles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing complex organizational change initiatives.
  • Prefer candidates who possess Canadian AME license with Category E and or/M Rating.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Possess a firm understanding of aircraft customer options and option management.
  • Results - driven leader who is outgoing and persuasive, is accustomed to working with senior management and is able to effectively relate to shop floor challenges.
  • Experience with Managing AMO/Avionics retrofit.
  • Experience in team development, including individual growth and fostering collaboration.
  • Experience with Canadian Aviation Regulations 561, 571 and 573, and equivalent foreign requirements is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) for Maintenance and Manufacturing is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Part 25 and 23 aircraft MRO and/or AMO is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Part 27 or 29 Helicopter MRO and/ or AMO is considered an asset.
  • Experience with TTCA or equivalent Approved Manufacturer is considered an asset.
