Reporting to the Training Supervisor, the Composite Assembly Trainer will be responsible for training Composite Assembly Technicians. The trainer will provide coaching and feedback to all technicians on an ongoing basis to aid in the department's continuous improvement efforts. The Composite Assembly Trainer will participate in meetings to coordinate with lead hands and other trainers to ensure the training standard is compliant with company goals and expectations. When not training, the trainer will perform responsibilities associated with a Composite Assembly Technician.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Training:
Instruct and lead new technicians on the basic techniques and procedures in assembly processes.
Ensure all composite procedures and specifications are followed on a daily basis.
Provide coaching and feedback to all new and existing technicians on their job performance.
Provide feedback to the supervisor and lead hand on the progress of the new technicians.
Troubleshooting and recommendations for process/tooling/ergonomic/safety improvements
Foster health and safety in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements.
Demonstrate standard work practices to ensure quality standards are met
Assembly Production:
Joining of composite to composite components through resin bonding, riveting, and fasteners
Installation of fasteners to composites - nut plates and riv nuts
Potting of inserts into core - core removal, surface preparation, insert bonding
Joining of metallic components to composite through resin bonding, riveting, fasteners, etc.
Understanding of proper bonding techniques - surface preparation, resin mixing and curing methods
Reworking of assemblies to remove minor imperfections
Fitting of components to match drawing, MID or specifications for part
Grinding, sanding, trimming parts to fit
Dry fitting of parts for proper layout procedure prior to installation / bonding
Ensuring proper torque values are met, torque striping of connections and safety wiring as required.
Working knowledge of IFMA's and EI's (specifications).
Ensure all production orders are completed fully and properly with all traceability for all components.
High attention to detail and mechanical ability.
Continuous Improvement / Surveillance:
Train employees, as directed by the Training Supervisor, in areas of non-conformances in quality or time to achieve quality and time targets.
Monitor and assess trained employees for training retention
New Part / Engineering Revisions:
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering Support to develop the best practices on new or revised parts.
Be the first to learn new part assembly processes
Train employees on the assembly process or new specifications for new or revised parts.
Health & Safety:
Ensure work areas and equipment kept clean and neat - 5S and FOD free
Complete actions / tasks coming from a Health & Safety audit or hazard report.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
5 yrs experience with composite assembly operations
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Knowledge of the operations processes and 3 years of experience performing them
Experience using small hand tools such as clamps, rivet guns, drills, grinders, taps, wrenches, knives and screwdrivers
Ability to understand quality requirements and how to effectively meet quality standards
Teamwork focus

Excellent communication skills
Be able to use measuring instruments and ability to read blueprint
Mechanical aptitude

Experience in aerospace industry preferred
