The Quality Assurance & Calibration Inspector reports to the Supervisor, Manufacturing Quality and is responsible for receiving inspection, intermediate inspection and Final inspection of Sheet Metal parts and Kits. In this position, the Quality Assurance & Calibration Inspector creates permission letters that allow customers to install kits on specific aircraft serial number and provide customer tracking for continuing airworthiness. The Quality Assurance & Calibration Inspector is also responsible for creating an Authorized Release Certificates and QA release documentation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Detailed Parts Inspector:

  • The QA & Calibration Inspector will retrieve parts from the incoming rack (This applies to receiving, intermediate and Final inspections).

  • Using vision and measurements, inspect parts for accuracy and completeness according to drawing and work order (visual defects, scratches, cracks).

  • If part passes inspection, create tags in SAP and Transport Canada Authorized Release Certificate, for detailed parts

  • If part doesn't pass, the QA Inspector will issue an NC and conduct Containment on affected parts.

  • Complete FAI reports per the requirements of AS9102.

  • Meet the daily/ weekly Inspection KPI as set for the teams.

  • Undergo all applicable mandatory training as required to maintain the Inspection Authorities.

  • Participate in root cause and problem solving investigations as required for CARs, NCs, Audit findings etc.

  • Conduct Containment on affected parts.

Kit Inspections:

  • The QA & Calibration Inspector will retrieve from incoming rack.

  • Separate parts (picked and delivered from warehouse) and place into individual kits. Input data (lot numbers, traceability) onto packing slip/ Kit List.

  • Verify work order and drawing package are accurate and current

  • Create tag and/or Authorized Release Certificate for all completed kits with all pertinent information

  • Package completed kits individually and submit to warehouse with work order tear-off

  • Complete FAI reports per the requirements of AS9102.

  • Meet the daily/ weekly Inspection KPI as set for the teams.

  • Undergo all applicable mandatory training as required to maintain the Inspection Authorities.

  • Participate in root cause and problem solving investigations as required for CARs, NCs, Audit findings etc.

Create Permission Letter

  • Input information supplied by CSR, or planner, and information with individual kit (STC's)

  • Ensure the kit is current and valid for model type of aircraft

  • Permission letters are to allow customers to install kits on specific aircraft serial number and provide customer tracking for continuing airworthiness

Create Authorized Release Certificate (Sales Order)

  • Ensure part information is entered on computer generated form, as well as other pertinent information

  • Undergo all applicable mandatory training as required to maintain the Inspection Authorities.

Calibration

  • Maintain the site Calibration Register.

  • Create Monthly / Weekly Recall lists and be accountable for the retrieval of gauges for calibration.

  • Responsible for the co-ordination of calibration efforts by third party calibration providers with Procurement support.

  • Ensure detailed review of the calibration reports and initiate any Calibration Deviation Reports based on failures identified by the calibration service provider.

  • On site calibration support for some handheld equipment.

  • Participate in root cause and problem solving investigations as required for CARs, NCs, Audit findings etc.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Operations - Materials/Inventory Management or related discipline considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Effective communication (written and oral) and organizational skills

  • Ability to work and think independently and under general supervision

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines - sense of urgency and customer satisfaction

  • Ability to lift and bend repetitively

  • Ability to climb stairs

  • Accuracy and attention to detail in data entry, paperwork and all other aspects of the position

  • Knowledge of the Aerospace Industry and AS9100 environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal customers and suppliers and be a catalyst for success on the Site Metrics and Departmental goals.
