About this position:

The Buyer is responsible for the purchasing of Aeronautical Products, Commercial Parts and Supplies, and Corporate Goods and Services. Inventory analysis, marketing & selling of surplus material, negotiating and securing agreements with vendors, vendor selection and vendor approval process while fulfilling Company requirements in accordance with standard policies and procedures.

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Purchasing, Stores & Inventory

Level: As per the GAFAE Collective Agreement

Location: This is an on-site position based in our Kanata office

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Purchasing of Aeronautical Products, Commercial Parts and Supplies;
  • Purchasing of Corporate Goods and Services;
  • Analyze inventory, market & sell surplus material;
  • Maintain and nurture professional relationships with vendors and providers;
  • Support departmental team approach to fulfill Company needs in other product lines as required;
  • Expedite back-orders from all vendors/suppliers to enhance timely delivery of all materials;
  • Prepare, issue and develop RFQ's;
  • Conduct vendor interviews;
  • Prepare required paperwork for acquisition, accounting and receiving of inventory;
  • Record and report to Management as required;
  • Advise maintenance on various technical aspects of parts requested;
  • Availability for after hours on call required (ie. nights, weekends); and
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years post secondary education;
  • Minimum four (4) years of previous experience;
  • PMAC program or other Purchasing/Business related courses will be an asset;
  • Previous experience in Aerospace Stores or a related Materials Management role will be an asset;
  • Previous experience with inventory analysis;
  • Proven skills in vendor negotiations;
  • Possess strong communication and organization skills;
  • Able to perform duties with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience dealing with internal and external customers;
  • Solid working knowledge of Word;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI;
  • Ability to speak French/English an asset;
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset; and
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
