About this position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager within the Corporate Program Management office (CPMO) to join our team and play a pivotal role in delivering projects in alignment with organizational business goals and priorities. As a Project Manager you will be accountable for the success of all projects under your supervision. Project Managers plan, execute, and deliver all projects on time, on budget, and within the scope in accordance with business priorities. Throughout the lifecycle of each project, the manager tracks project status and manages project teams to mitigate issues and risks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Initiation:

  • Collaborate with business leads and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, resource requirements, and milestones.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Ensure the project adheres to project methodology compliance standards set by the company.

Resource Management:

  • Identify and allocate resources, including personnel, external vendors, and tools, to achieve project objectives.
  • Work with business managers to coordinate resource availability and optimize team dynamics.
  • Monitor resource utilization and adjust allocations as needed to maintain project efficiency.
  • Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles
  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular project updates, status reports, and progress reviews to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Proactively manage expectations and address any concerns or issues that arise.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize negative impacts on project timelines and outcomes.
  • Regularly assess project risks and implement contingency plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Budget Oversight:

  • Work with finance and business leads to develop project budgets, tracking expenses and resource costs.
  • Monitor project expenditures, ensuring adherence to budget constraints and adjusting as needed.

Project Execution and Monitoring:

  • Lead project teams in executing tasks according to the project plan, addressing any roadblocks or issues that arise.
  • Monitor project progress against milestones and deliverables, adjusting ensure on-time completion.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages team members' growth and development.

Quality Assurance and Closure:

  • Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and align with business requirements.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and coordinate end-user training to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Conduct thorough project reviews, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Change Management:

  • Manage the project change requests process for maintenance or enhancements.
  • Create organizational change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions when implementing new operational systems.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on project management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tools (e.g.,Smartsheet, JIRA, etc.).
  • Prior experience in an airline is a strong advantage, demonstrating an understanding of the airline industry
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to navigate challenges in a dynamic IT environment.
  • Project management certifications such as PMP, CAPM, or PMI-ACP are beneficial.
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
