The Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program is an aircrew training program to prepare pilots, Air Combat Systems Operators, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As part of the SkyAlyne Team, KF Aerospace will operate an Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) acting as the Military Type Certificate Holder for the five fleets of training aircraft.

JOB OVERVIEW

The qualified individual will support the FAcT Head of Engineering within the FAcT ATO by setting up and maintaining an electronic records system for the five FAcT aircraft fleets. During transition, this individual will act as the operational lead for the system configuration working with the Information Technology (IT) group, the maintenance and engineering organizations, the software provider and the airworthiness regulatory authorities to configure, validate, test, and gain approval for the records system. This individual will also deploy the system to the operational locations, ensuring the maintenance teams are trained and supported throughout the deployment. During steady state, this individual will work with the users and the software provider to manage the quality of inputs, correct issues, develop dashboards and reports to assist in status and decision making, and implement improvements and upgrades.

This position will require an individual with a blend of aircraft maintenance experience and a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements for aircraft records.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transition/Development Phase

  • Work together with the IT group to gather inputs from maintenance and engineering personnel to lead the configuration of the electronic records application for the FAcT program and its five fleets of aircraft
  • Develop and deliver a project plan for approval by the regulatory authority for the electronic record system deployment covering critical aspects of deployment including scope and schedule, verification and validation, system management, user documentation, training, and quality assurance
  • Manage the overall execution of the plan
  • Work with the IT group, the system users, and the aircraft OEMs to configure the software for the FAcT operation and aircraft
  • Ensure readiness of each operating location prior to deployment to the maintenance organizations including user manuals, training, and any other required support

In Service Phase

  • Conduct regular quality checks of operational data to highlight and correct system and user issues/errors
  • Manage the system baseline implementing approved changes to the aircraft and maintenance program configurations
  • Support validation and verification test of application upgrades
  • Assist users in correcting issues and errors
  • Support development of dashboards and reports to provide insight and guidance for planning, data analysis, and business decisions
  • Conduct and/or oversee training activities for new users as well as recurrent training for existing users
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the application provider to communicate and resolve user issues on behalf of the organization, suggest areas for improvement or enhancement, and to plan upgrades or updates in a way that minimizes operational impact

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or diploma in aviation or IT (applicable discipline) or have the equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Minimum ten years of experience in the maintenance or technical support of aircraft in a live flying operation
  • Minimum five years of experience in a maintenance control position dealing with aircraft records
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations governing aircraft technical records. Experience working within the Canadian military airworthiness system is an asset
  • Significant experience working with electronic records systems
  • Project management experience is an asset
