Reporting to the Materials & Process Director, working in close collaboration with our senior level III expert in Non-destructive testing (NDT), this person would be responsible for looking after all aspects of NDT Level III for Longueuil and Laval facilities as a subject matter expert.
As a level 3 expert, your main responsibilities will be the following :
Act as referee expert for our internal sites
o Ensure HD internal NDT inspectors are adequately qualified and trained, in line with NA410 requirements and HD internal specifications. This includes operators trainings, monitoring, and qualifications/certifications maintenance (up-to-date inspectors' records).
o Be the focal for external audits preparation and realization (customers and Nadcap).
o Check and approve NDT techniques for parts manufactured internally.
o Improve existing techniques to optimize controls while ensuring products quality and safety.
Act as a Supplier Quality Assurance specialist for some of our NDT suppliers
o Ensure suppliers' approvals are up-to-date in HD approved suppliers' list
o Perform audits at defined frequency and issue corresponding reports
o Check and approve techniques when necessary (MPI/FPI), in line with HD internal procedures.
o Travel as necessary to investigate and solve issues with NDT suppliers.
o Support investigations and non-conformances involving NDT processes.
o Assess and approve new suppliers.
• Certification NAS410
• Minimum five (5) years of experience with Aerospace Landing Gear Manufacturing/Machining of Low strength Alloy Steels, SS, Titanium, Aluminum, etc. or with products highly loaded made out of similar materials.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in the aerospace industry, with a minimum of 2 years in a similar position.
• 2 to 5 years of experience with Nadcap (e-audit net) a major asset
• Recognized (AS9100 preferred) auditor training experience is an asset.
• Experience with the following special processes (chrome, cad (LHE, Ti-Cad), apprêt, peinture, HVOF, anodisation (chromique, sulfurique et dure), nickel (sulfamate et sans électrolyse) considered an asset.
• Experience with Barkhausen Noise Inspection and Temper Etch inspection considered an asset.
• Knowledge of quality aerospace standards.
• Ability to interpret technical aerospace drawings and 3D models/CATIA.
• Ability to perform well under pressure and independently
• Ability to make decisions on their own or with little supervision
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office suite (Work, Excel, Powerpoint).
• In this role, we require English knowledge due to the frequent communications required with our various suppliers, customers, auditors, and other international subsidiaries of the organization.
• Can be located at our Longueuil or Laval facility to support the Landing Gear Division.
