ABOUT US

Since 1978 Air Inuit has been providing scheduled, charter, cargo, and emergency air transportation services in Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of over 35 aircraft ranging from a Twin Otter 300 Series to a Boeing 737 200C, 300 and 800 and employs over 1000 employees in one of the most challenging flight environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The ramp agent is diligent and responsible, handling the loading and unloading of goods and baggage, as well as directing aircraft to and from gates and servicing aircraft. This position requires good physical condition, excellent time management skills, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide (marshaling) aircraft to and from gates using hand signals and radios, ensuring safe and precise parking.
  • Load and unload baggage, goods, and mail from aircraft, ensuring quick and safe handling.
  • Use ground support equipment such as tugs, conveyor belts, and baggage carts. Perform minor maintenance tasks on this equipment.
  • Perform basic cabin maintenance tasks once the aircraft is empty.
  • Adhere to all safety and security procedures.
  • Conduct visual inspections of aircraft to check for visible defects or damage.
  • Coordinate with pilots, air traffic control, and other ground team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform any other tasks necessary and required by the company to ensure operational efficiency.

WHAT MAKES YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to communicate in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 32 kg).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Punctual, reliable, able to work physically and under pressure.
  • Experience driving a forklift.
  • Open to occasional travel for training.
  • Available to work evenings, nights, and weekends.

COMPENSATION

  • Salary and benefits are determined according to company policy.
  • Annual northern bonus of $10,784 (if the position is filled by a local employee).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Rotational position: 2 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks off.
  • Outdoor environment on the airport runway with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Physical work including handling goods and baggage.
  • If the position is not filled locally:
  • Air transport from Montreal as well as accommodation and meals are covered by the company for each rotation.
  • The employee will be recognized as not having a designated base.
