Since 1978 Air Inuit has been providing scheduled, charter, cargo, and emergency air transportation services in Nunavik and beyond, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivvik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of over 35 aircraft ranging from a Twin Otter 300 Series to a Boeing 737 200C, 300 and 800 and employs over 1000 employees in one of the most challenging flight environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Building Maintenance Technician, you will be the backbone of our ground operations in Nunavik, ensuring our facilities are safe, efficient, and in top-notch condition. Your expertise will keep our bases running seamlessly, supporting our mission to provide safe and exceptional service to our passengers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor Air Inuit's buildings by carrying out visits and inspections as well as ensuring basic maintenance of the non-technical components and heating systems in the facilities.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on non-technical components of the installations (wall, floors, etc.) and heating systems.
  • Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with the company policies and as prescribed by the laws, regulations, procedures, practices and guidelines of the environment, health, safety and protection against fires measures, and with all other applicable requirements.
  • Produce observations on the conditions and deficiencies of the facilities, non-technical components and heating systems, and provide suggestions for improvements and repairs.
  • Provide repair and maintenance reports to the administrative staff.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the tools and anticipate any repair or replacement if needed.
  • Maintain an up to date inventory of all equipment and materials.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner.
  • Help improve user satisfaction and maintain positive relationships by ensuring the completion of work and delivery of services.
  • Develop innovative ways to improve daily operations.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks in line with the operational needs.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • College diploma in Building Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in building maintenance and heating systems.
  • General knowledge in electricity, plumbing, ventilation systems and woodworking.
  • Ability to perform work tasks safely.
  • Strong communication skills in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English.
  • Capacity to work independently, without supervision.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with the Office Suite, mainly: Outlook, Word, Excel and OneNote.

REMUNERATION

  • Salary and benefits are determined in accordance with the corporate policy;
  • Northern Allowance $10,784 (if applicable)

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours.
  • Perform work indoor and outdoor.
  • Protective equipment must be worn at all times when performing work duties.
  • Rotational work schedule - 2 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks off;
  • Accommodations, meals, work clothing and travel between Montreal and the Northern bases are provided;
