POSITION OVERVIEW


Building inspections and minor repairs in the Nunavik region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify Air Inuit buildings by carrying out visits and inspections and insure basic maintenance of the facilities, non-technical components and heating systems;
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on non-technical components of the installations (wall, floors, etc) and heating systems;
  • Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with company policies and as prescribed by the laws, procedures, practices and guidelines of the environment, health, safety and protection against fires measures, and with all other applicable requirements;
  • Provide observations on the conditions and deficiencies of the facilities, non-technical components and heating systems, and provide suggestions for improvements and repairs;
  • Provide repair and maintenance reports to the administrative staff;
  • Contribute to the implementation of a preventative maintenance program;
  • Ensure the maintenance of tools and anticipate any repair or replacement if needed;
  • Maintain an up to date inventory of equipment and materials;
  • Submit all expenses in a timely manner;
  • Help improve user satisfaction and maintain positive relationships by ensuring the completion of work and delivery of services;
  • Develop ways to improve daily operations;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma - building technology or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building maintenance and heating systems;
  • General knowledge in electricity, plumbing, ventilation systems and woodwork;
  • Ability to perform work safely;
  • Bilingual (English/Inuktitut) or (French/Inuktitut) or (French/English);
  • Being able to work independently, without supervision;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Hold a valid driving license;
  • Must be able to use computer software, Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, etc.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Must be available to work occasionally outside normal business hours;
  • Must be willing to work indoors and outdoors;
  • Must be willing to wear protective equipment;
  • Rotational - 2 weeks of work followed by 2 weeks off;
  • Accommodations, meals, work clothing and travel between Montreal and the Northern bases are provided.

  • Compensation and benefits are determined in accordance with corporate policy.
